Hi
Can we talk about functional harmony when analysing blues music.
I know that blues has its own tonality.
And also music of The Beatles.I am reading book which is analysing harmony in their songs based on chords functions,Is that a proper way of analysing their harmonies.
To my understanding The Beatles music is a "post tonal" music based on "key" concept instead of tonality.

Concerning The Beatles harmonic approach, I read this article a few years ago that was very enlightning. It's a bit academic but well worth the effort of going through it a couple of times if necessary:
