Confused about transposing

I have an ocarina that is in the key of C. Here is the range.Ocarina Fingering Chart.

Let's say I want to play this song here. Jingle Bells

You'll notice the first note in the song is D4. The lowest note my ocarina goes down to is B4. That is definitely out of my range. How do I move the D4 into my range while still keeping the rest of the notes in the song in my range as well?

I'm new to music in general, but it is my understanding that if you move one note in a song say up one octave then you must logically move the rest of the notes up one octave. If I did that I think I would push out other notes in the song out of my range? I'm confused obviously.

Transpose up one octave (yes every note must be equally transposed) and all the notes will be available. The highest note needed will be the E that is shown as the last picture in your chart (no,10). So all the notes are there - no problem.

You could also move every note up only the major 6th needed to get the D up just to the B that your instrument can play instead of up a full octave. That would change the key of the song from G to E, so that the highest note would then be a C# instead of an E. I don't know what Ocarina sounds like, but if it's
very high notes are shrill or loud or hard to play, as with, say recorder or tin whistle, then this might be an good option.

How do I move up every note a major 6th? My ocarina is moderately high pitched I would say.

It is really nice

To transpose up a 6th, i.e. from G to E, go through the piece and find each note on the left in the list below and replace it with the note on the right...


G -> E
G#/Ab - F
A -> F#/Gb
A#/Bb -> G
B -> G#/Ab
C-> A
C#/DB -> A#/Bb
D -> B
D#/Eb -> C
E -> C#
F -> D
F#/Gb -> D#/Eb

That's all there is to it!
