I'm reading some sheet music which is in the key of G. The F note on a measure indicated as #. So is this note G?

The F# notation still means F#. To get the enharmonic of G, one uses Fx or F## (F double sharp) however notated. When F# is set in the key-signature, an F# usually means that an Fn (F natural) or (very rarely) Fb (f flat) has occurred somewhere before in that measure. (I guess Fx could also occur.)
